At the Heart of the Local Community
At Queen Eleanor we strive to be very much ‘at the heart of the local community’. Our staff are involved in delivering specialist modern language and technology teaching in our family of primary schools and our School Sports Co-ordinator works exclusively on training and devising sporting programmes for teachers in these schools. The primary schools also have access to our specialist facilities.
We work in partnership with other local schools and colleges to develop a broad curriculum offer for 14-16 year olds and to ensure that there are appropriate progression routes available locally for all of our students post-16.
Many groups within the local community use our facilities in the evenings for sports, access to computers or meetings. The school is proud to be actively open from 8am to 10pm. Students have access to our breakfast club in the morning and can attend homework clubs up to 6pm in the evening.
The school enjoys a strong partnership with large local employer Cummins Generator Technologies and is involved in a number of community projects. GCSE Art and Design students designed the murals on the front of the school and also contributed to the new Queen Eleanor Cross and the mural in Stamford Library’s children’s section. We also have strong links with local Rotary and Kiwani groups.
At weekends our grounds are home to the Stamford Bels Football Club and Old Stamfordians Rugby Club who have provided additional changing facilities. The school also provides professional coaching in cricket, badminton and table tennis.
The school cares about its local environment and, having achieved Eco Schools Silver standard, is developing projects and curriculum activities with its partners which will enable it to achieve the top national award of Green Flag Status.
