Assessment and Reporting

For Year 7 students Key Stage 2 SATs results and primary school records are used to give the school a clear idea of real and potential ability and to place students in ability streams.  These records, which also include assessments of attitudes and behaviour, are updated regularly and are used to monitor performance.  All these records are essential to maximising the academic achievement of each individual.

There are four methods of reporting that are used by the school.  The precise details may vary across year groups but all parents/carers will always receive at least an annual report (issued for each year group at differing times each year), six progress checks (one per term) and at least one parent/carer consultation ('parents' evening'.

The Annual Report is a written comment on progress in every subject for that year.  It also contains targets for each subject, a brief course description and all statutory National Curriculum assessments.

The Progress Checks contain individual data on progress and effort alongside targets, attendance rates and behaviour logs. These are posted to parents six times a year.

A Parents' Evening is when parents can make individual appointments to discuss progress with subject teachers.

Further information: where there is a cause for concern, parents are welcome to contact either the Form Tutor or the relevant Progress Manager.  Minor concerns can be communicated through the student planner.
