Students Celebrate Record GCSE Results

Students at Queen Eleanor Technology College this year celebrated record GCSE results. 57% of students achieved 5 A*-C grades, with 42% achieving that figure including English and maths.  There were also record numbers of A* and A grades achieved.

These results show a pleasing improvement on those last year and reflect the effort, commitment and hard work that staff and students at the school have put in. Special mention goes to Laura Smith who achieved a clean sweep of A* and A grades.

Headteacher Wendy Hamilton, who formally takes up post on 1st September, said “I congratulate all of the students on their achievements. The staff and students have done an outstanding job in moving the school forward and the results certainly set a standard that our current students will need to mirror and improve on further in the future. The results allow us to start the term feeling very positive and set ourselves further challenging targets for next year”.

Chair of Governors, Jonathan Selwyn, said that ‘On behalf of the Board of Governors, I would like to congratulate all of the students on their tremendous exam results. As a year group they have proved first class role models for the other students and have helped to foster the unique community spirit we have at the school. I would like to wish them well as they move on to study for A levels, diplomas and other courses.

The excellent results are also a testament to the dedication, hard work and enthusiasm of our superb teaching and support staff. We have ambitious plans for the school and we look forward to working closely with our new Headteacher and staff to build on these record results and realise our plans over the coming months and years.’
