Stamford Queen Eleanor Governors Vote Yes to Academy Status

Governors at Stamford Queen Eleanor have voted overwhelmingly to convert to Academy status by 1 January 2012.

The decision followed a consultation process with parents, staff, students and stakeholders, which began in mid June. At the meeting governors considered all of the consultation responses, including those received at an open meeting with parents and the community, before making a final decision.

The school will join the CfBT Schools Trust, an established education trust with whom Queen Eleanor already has a close working relationship. The Deepings School will also be joining the CfBT Schools Trust as an Academy and will work closely with Queen Eleanor to share resources and expertise.

Over the summer months the school will begin extensive administration work to make the switch to an academy. A letter will be sent to parents, staff and stakeholders in the autumn term to confirm conversion arrangements.

Head teacher Wendy Hamilton said “This decision is a great step for the school. Becoming an Academy will enable us to be more independent receive significant additional resources, develop closer relationships with other local schools in the CfBT Schools Trust and maximise budgets by buying more flexible, better value cost services.

I would like thank everyone who participated in the consultation process. Parents and stakeholders were overwhelmingly in favour of this proposition and we appreciated their support. There is a lot of hard work to be completed between now and conversion, but I am confident my staff will achieve this deadline and ensure a smooth transition.”
