Stamford Queen Eleanor School has introduced a new cashless canteen system this week. The new system uses unique fingertip verification for every student and member of staff so that the system recognises each individual. It means that tills and vending machines will read the fingertip rather than accepting cash, all within a few seconds.
The School has written to all parents to explain to them that they can top up the amount of money by direct debit online using the ParentPay system. There is also a facility whereby students can top up the amount of money by using a coin. This loader also allows students to check their balance. In the future the system will allow the School and parents to see what food items students are purchasing, and will also enable the School to reward students for their healthy eating habits and get rewards.
Headteacher Wendy Hamilton said “We are pleased to finally implement this system and hope that in the future parents will be able to use it for uniform purchases and school trip payments. With students carrying round less cash, we hope that they are less likely to lose money or feel concerned about carrying it. The students have adapted to the new system very quickly and seem to like it. It is very quick and efficient and we would encourage as many parents as possible to use the new ParentPay system.”
