List of Governors

Mr Terl Bryant - Vice Chair of Governors and Chair of Finance Committee

I am a 65 year old Electronics Engineer who completed 26 years service in the Royal Air Force.

I have lived in Stamford for some 28 years. I have been a Scout leader for all my adult life and an currently Vice Chairman of Lincolnshire County Scouts and Chairman of Stamford and Bourne District.

I have been a governor of Stamford Queen Eleanor School for 18 years and was chairman of Governors for 5 years. Currently Chairman of the Lincolnshire Schools Forum which allows the school to have an insight to some of the more obscure structure and funding arrangements.

I am particularly interested in finance and have held many voluntary positions overseeing financial management. I am involved with Alms houses, War Pensions and Multiple Sclerosis charities which give insight to good governance and practices.

As a past Mayor of Stamford and Chairman and financial portfolio holder of South Kesteven District Council along with my experience as a project manager and design consultant I try to lend these experiences to the school in any role they find best as QE must become the school of choice for Stamford in order to deliver the best for our pupils.

Mr Steve Bull - Staff Governor

I started teaching P.E at the school 2 ½ years ago. I was asked if I would be interested in becoming a staff governor. I jumped at the chance as I felt I could provide a valuable link between the governors, staff and students. I enjoy every second of my job and look forward to coming into school every single day.

Dr Anne Emerson - Parent Governor

I am a parent Governor with one son who started in 2008 and another in 2010.  I qualified as a speech and language therapist in 1979 and have worked mostly with children and adults with special needs in a large number of primary, secondary and special schools. I also work as a psychology lecturer at Nottingham Trent University.

Being a Governor at Stamford Queen Eleanor enables me to use much of what I have learned during my career for the benefit of the community I live in. I have a particular interest in the inclusion of children with special needs in mainstream schools and a passion for working to ensure that all children reach their potential.

Rod Howitt - Parent Governor

I am a parent governor with a son in year 10. I served in the Air Force for 25 years as an Air Traffic Controller, with my final two tours at RAF Wittering and RAF Cottesmore. Married with two children, as a family we have lived in Stamford for the last 16 years, from where I commute to East Midlands Airport.  My position as a Governor allows me to keep in touch with what is happening in the education system and in particularly Stamford Queen Eleanor, and at the same time put something back into the local community.

Liz Marshall - Staff Governor

Charlotte McGregor - Community Governor

Mr Jonathan Selwyn - Chair of Governors

Jonathan Selwyn is the Chair of Governors. He was originally a co-opted member of the Board, representing Action on Secondary Schooling in Stamford (ASSIST), a parents group which seeks to promote the provision of first class secondary education in the state sector for Stamford’s children. ASSIST worked closely with Stamford Queen Eleanor School, the local education authority and parents to pursue this aim.

Jonathan is Managing Director of Lark Energy, a renewable energy project developer and former Chief Executive of national sustainable development charity UK CEED, based in Peterborough. He attended a comprehensive school and sixth form college in South London and has a degree in Economics and a Masters in Environmental Economics. Mrs Amanda Speirs - Parent Governor

Mr Bryan Studd - Co-opted Sponsor Governor (Cummins Generator Technologies)

Mrs Kay Wright - Staff Governor

I began my teaching career in 1979 in a London school and as a Lancashire lass found this to be an eye opener. After having 2 children, my husband and I decided it was time to move north as we have family in Newcastle. We got as far as Stamford, I got a job at Queen Eleanor and have been here ever since. I am an Assistant Headteacher at the school and the SENCo. I joined the governing body when a staff governor post became vacant in June 2005 as I wanted to extend my work in the community. I love the school, the students and my job!
